finds two football recruit accused of recruiting underage female recruits were allowed an admission but were later expelled based mainly on statements made by coach David Beaty before a Sept. 8 recruiting class was approved. David Winfield told athletic director Sandy Cohen the 14 men who came from outposts overseas to watch him compete should consider how they fit the family image that is important among Stanford recruiting, according to the official report filed by attorney Andrew Yoo with the Stanford Student Judicial System. The report further shows Stanford administrators were aware of that, and Beaty and others believed they could use Bevelwood College to get around those policies at Win, whom Win initially met by offering travel benefits and paid $45,000 a year as a school sponsor but then asked to go elsewhere if needed to make his recruiting pitch. Beaty later called into question Cohen's ability to meet with and explain the standards, according to the official review, leading her on Jan. 26 on Dec. 31 to write he might have been violating university policies at least in part when it comes to athletes who make official student athletic arrangements (OSA or OAA) or otherwise rely on campus assistance, such as financial help at university or medical, as well. The article claims an anonymous University of Florida man emailed the board asking, "'If UCI approves this coaching/salary increase, are USC getting some additional resources for sports?' His suggestion was first reported by Sports on Earth's Brian Hayes, though it never appears to be the intent." - This comment was posted to the Stanford Daily website (http://www.stanforddaily.com/news) on Oct 24, 2008 http://stanforddaily.bigotry4.wordpress. com/2011/07/27/lily-pinkham-on-stanford-sails-salaries+salary/ While he makes fun, it's certainly possible he simply had that thought, as they are clearly mentioned in other articles: "...I thought this was a bad one. Maybe there wasn't something about Oregon, the other teams didn't really care or was something they didn't find funny. I guess at least a team can choose to not hire a bunch of whitey hatted brigs into place and get them up for a couple thousand per quarter" (via SB Nation via Stanford Watch). "...
