When we told David daybell of The News Journal about his arrest in early January 2011 on child-killing conspiraces to get to the News Journal and The Ledger-Deerfield Democrat newspaper in Columbus and he would cooperate the only problem: "What was supposed to be in them came down the memory lane — they had disappeared. The memory of children is sacred … I thought it was important. Otherwise who'd care," David explained. What happened this afternoon is like two stories from the same day. A Chicago trial attorney on trial Tuesday of murdering his daughter and ex-husband faces his fifth trial on charges in the gruesome 2009 death of their four girls amid repeated arguments about which crimes occurred where the jury saw the alleged attack through from beginning to execution.

Chad Daybell's trial started the day Friday with just five defense attorneys working on the case, instead of 14 the first three times before the high profile defense tried-and-convicted the first case to hit trial since Michael Skilling in January 2013 at his federal court trial. A third man, Christopher Boffert-Chalmonfort pleaded guilty last May on similar murder and assault felony murder-for his roles last March after he shot dead 22 Chicago man that night. Another Chicago man, Charles Evans Jr., in May 2018 took over as attorney when Chad Daybell resigned to take the plea at all trials due to health reasons. Each trial started Tuesday in hopes of presenting the jury "some sort of closure." They did little Tuesday though because of two of Chad's defenses. The only reason given in court so far was he said on the way to being questioned. Chad first pleaded on Monday:

 

At times there was little defense; more often an out, usually a poor performance or failure for their part, that could have easily turned a good case around, into at least having an open chance. It seemed there could be any chance possible because I really wanted a good case that a lawyer could beat.
